John Madgett Retires After 43 Years of Service For Immediate Release: June 23, 2000 (Kansas City, MO) A grand reception was held at Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Company’s corporate offices in honor of John Madgett on his retirement. Over 175 business and community leaders, elected officials, and friends of Mr. Madgett and Mid-West Terminal, attended the reception. Mr. Madgett was hired as an operations manager for Mid-West Terminal’s public warehouse and barge terminal operations in Kansas City in 1957. Later as Executive Vice President of Mid-West Terminal, Mr. Madgett was an integral part of the Company’s successful transition into real estate development and leasing. In 1983 Mr. Madgett became President of Mid-West Terminal Warehouse’s newly formed subsidiary, Mid-West Terminal Distribution Services, Inc., a public warehouse and trucking company. He served in this role as well as that of Executive Vice President of Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Company until 1996 when he was named Senior Vice President of the parent company. John Madgett has always been a strong proponent of transportation related issues in Kansas City. Mr. Madgett has been very active in many organizations including the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas City Port Authority, the Missouri-Arkansas River Basin Association (MOARK), the Kansas City Transportation Association (KCTA), the Northeast Industrial Association (NEIA), and the Inland Rivers, Ports, and Terminals Association (IRPT), among others. Mr. Madgett played a major role promoting and obtaining funding for the new Chouteau Bridge over the Missouri River and has been, and continues to be, a major proponent for navigation on the Missouri River. Mr. Madgett’s commitment and dedication to Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Company, the transportation industry, and Kansas City is very much appreciated. At the reception Rod LaMothe, President of Mid-West Terminal Warehouse Co., presented a plaque to Mr. Madgett with the following inscription, which in a few words sums up the thoughts and feelings of those who attended the celebration. John Madgett, Executive Vice President of Mid-West Terminal, has served our Company for 42 years with loyalty, honor and distinction. His keen sense of duty has always shown a unique grasp of human and business challenges, to the extent that leaders of our community have sought his advice. He has always been alert to the problems of his fellow man in an hour-of-need, and for this reason he has earned and gained the admiration esteem and affection of his fellow associates and employees. Therefore, we present this plaque as a token of our deep appreciation for his years of service. We also extend our congratulations on his retirement and our best wishes to him for a long and happy life. ----------
